I apologize for the delay in making the results of Friday’s contest official — I attended the CTHS Awards last night. The top performing player was playing for Belmont Child Care Association.

In their own words, “The Belmont Child Care Association, Inc. (BCCA) was established in December 1998 to create a child care center at Belmont Park which has the largest population of backstretch workers of the three New York Racing Association, Inc. tracks. The BCCA set about building a center, selecting a licensed child care provider, and spearheading fundraising to support the continued operation of the center.

Anna House, the centerpiece of BCCA’s efforts, was built in 2002 by Board Chairman Michael Dubb. Named for the then two-year-old daughter of major donor Eugene Melnyk, Anna House opened its doors on January 1, 2003. The adjacent playground area is named for Lemon Drop Kid, the 1999 Belmont Stakes winner owned by donors Jeanne Vance and Laddie Dance.”

Each week, the CharitableWager.com Host will donate US$5 (plus advertising fees) to the charity selected by the winning entrant. Contestants aren’t obligated to donate but are encouraged to give US$5 or however much they feel comfortable contributing. Those who would like to contribute to Belmont Child Care Association can do so through this linked web page.

Additionally, charities represented in the weekly Free Friday Fun(d)raiser contest will earn points in the seasonal standings. The charities will earn 60, 20, and 10 points when their proxies finish first, second and third respectively. Plus, charities will amass an additional 1 point for each player who represented them but did not finish in the top 3. At the end of the season (June 9th), the top 5 charities in the seasonal points standings will receive 60%, 20%, 10%, 5%, and 5% of the seasonal donation pool.
