Charitable Wager: 2016 Boxing Day Betting Challenge

On Monday, December 26th, CharitableWager.com will host the 2016 Boxing Day Betting Challenge sponsored by The Paulick Report. The Boxing Day Betting Challenge is “Winner Gives All” thoroughbred horse racing handicapping contest.

In the spirit of the horse racing twitter world uniting for good, all participants voluntarily put up a minimum of $20 (USD) to compete in a mythical bankroll handicapping contest where the winner decides what charity receives all of the donation pool. In Charitable Wager’s ‘Winner Gives All’ contests, no monies trade hands between the contest organizers or any contestants. Donations are made on the honor system. 100% of donation pool goes to the winners’ charities. Each contest winner chooses from a list of contest designated charities. The Winner Gives All.

Recipients of previous donation pools include: Permanent Disabled Jockeys Fund and two-time winner Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farms. The current ‘Winner Gives All’ Donation Pool is $180 and growing.

Additional horse racing themed charities may be added to the roster of potential beneficiaries provided that they are government certified charities. To be added to the roster, charities must have an online donation option such as PayPal or a direct credit card contribution link. Charities or donors can petition the addition of their organizations by emailing ovals at yahoo dot com.

While the complete contest race list for the 2016 Boxing Day Betting Challenge has yet to be finalized, it will include the following stakes races (in alphabetical order):

  • La Brea Stakes (Grade I) – Santa Anita
  • Malibu Stakes (Grade I) – Santa Anita
  • Mathis Brothers Mile (Grade II) – Santa Anita
  • San Simeon Handicap (grade III) – Santa Antia
  • Tiffany Lass – Fair Grounds Race 5

Also included in the contest will be the following allowance races:

  • A “Two-Other-Than” Allowance Turf Sprint at Fair Grounds – Race 8 with 11 entrants plus an additional 5 Main Track Only entrants

PARTIAL LIST OF RULES:

  1. Only one entry allowed per person.
  2. Submit one selection for each contest race and one alternate if you choose to designate one. If your selection is scratched and no alternate selection was made, you will receive the post-time favourite as your selection.
  3. Most importantly select the charity for which your are playing from the list of horse racing themed charities.
  4. Mythical bankroll totals will reflect $2 win-place-show payouts for winning selections. Contest payouts will be those reported by Equibase.
  5. In the event of a tie, player with highest return on a single race will be named the winner.
  6. Selections are due no later than first post of the first contest race on Monday, December 26, 2016 in order to use all contest races. Entries submitted, fashionably late, after the “off time” (as reported by Equibase) for first contest race will only receive scores for races which have not started.
  7. All disputes will be decided by the Charitable Wager Host and will be final.
